Oakton also requires a writing proficiency exam sponsored by the Modern Languages Department. Contact the Testing Center to schedule the writing proficiency exam.
Criteria for Evaluating Writing Proficiency Exams
Level I
You will have 60 minutes to write two separate paragraphs. Each paragraph should contain a minimum of ten complete sentences. You must answer all components of each question. Your writing will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
IMPORTANT: You must pass the essay portion in order to be granted language credit at Oakton.
Level II
You will have 60 minutes to write a 400 to 500-word essay. Your writing will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
IMPORTANT: You must write an essay that clearly shows you have mastered the more complex elements covered through Intermediate Level II. Therefore, make sure your essay is of a more sophisticated nature.
You must pass the essay portion in order to be granted language credit at Oakton.
