Placement Prep

Remember that the purpose of a placement test is to find the best place for you to start your coursework at Oakton.

It is highly recommended that you become familiar with each test. Practice tests are available for the ACCUPLACER Reading test and sample essays are available for review for the WSAT (Writing Skills Assessment Test).

Working through practice material helps you:

• Get comfortable with the exam format
• Review basic concepts

Other tips:

• Make sure to allow yourself enough time to take a test, you don’t want to rush!
• If you are testing remotely, find a secluded place and time so you can take it undisturbed.
• Get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy meal before testing.
